Before we talk about the Gogo scooter, let’s talk for a second about the word, “Gogo.” Online, we found that it is spelled, “Gogo,” “Go Go,” and, “Go-Go.” On its website, Pride Mobility uses the spelling, “Go-Go,” so that’s what we will use for the rest of this article. However, remember, no matter how you spell it when you search for one, it’s the same great scooter.
The people creating these scooters have really thought of everything. Long gone are the days when the battery ran out after an hour, you could only get around on concrete, or you needed a van to transport your scooter.
Super-easy ‘feather-light’ disassembly
First, let’s talk about how easy it is to transport the Go-Go Scooter. This scooter breaks down into five separate super-light pieces — the heaviest piece only weighs 35 pounds. It’s effortless to get it apart, too. Using only a “feather-light” touch, you can get the Go-Go Scooter broken down and packed into just about any car in minutes.
If you don’t have to transport the scooter, that’s cool too. The batteries each only weight around nine pounds, and they detach. Once you disconnect the batteries, you can carry them right to the charger without needing the entire scooter near an outlet.
Extensive testing and superior design mean a trustworthy ride
The people at Pride Mobility considered everything when they designed the Go-So Scooter models. On top of that, they made sure that you would stay mobile with a trustworthy product. To make sure your scooter never leaves you stranded, the company puts each model through extensive product testing. The Go-Go scooters exceed all the standards in quality, performance, and dependability. These scooters even have an onboard microprocessor-based control system that ensures maximum power output at all times.
Super-tight turning radius
Now, we all know about those scooters that are so large and so cumbersome they always seem to be in the way — or worse, running into things. Well, the designers at Pride Mobility kept the scooter spacious but kept it super-mobile at the same time. How did they do that, you ask? With all the different models of Go-Go scooters available, we had to choose one type for our review today.
Let’s talk about three-wheel scooters versus four-wheel scooters. Ultimately, whether you choose a three or four-wheel version depends on a couple of things — your disability level and what your exact needs are. The first thing we learned about the three-wheel versions is that a lot of people have fallen off of them. If balance is in any way an issue for you or the person getting a scooter, the three-wheel version is not the one you should choose. The appeal of the three-wheel version is that the turning radius is minimal, making it excellent for small spaces.
When is a three-wheel scooter preferable over the four-wheel? Well, if balance isn’t an issue for you and the spaces you need the scooter for are indoors and tight, a three-wheel Go-Go scooter is perfect for you. For our purposes today we are talking about a four-wheel Go-Go scooter called the Go-Go Traveller Elite. The three we chose for comparison are four-wheelers, as well, to keep it fair.
How Much Should You Budget for a Go-Go Scooter?
Next, we are going to talk about what’s most likely one of your top questions — how much is all this going to cost? Well, if you are in the market for a four-wheeled Go-Go scooter, you are looking at $800 all the way to $2,300 for one with a seat that will lift you up. Most of the four-wheel versions come in right around $1,000 to $1,500. You will pay less for a three-wheel version, as those are $650 to $2,000. Most of the three-wheelers are about $1,000 to $1,500. The cost varies widely depending on what you want and where you order it from.

Let’s get right to it. Is the Go-Go Scooter worth all that money? Our answer is a definitive yes. A decade ago, you would have paid even more for a scooter that didn’t perform half as well. Today, you can spend this much on a mobility scooter knowing it will do everything you need it to and more — and getting your mobility back in that way is worth every penny.

On there, you can get not only all the customer reviews but also answers to just about any question you might have. Then, we looked up other review sites and compared those to Amazon to ensure that our information was accurate. Using customer satisfaction, manufacturer specifications, and price, we compared the Go-Go scooter against competing brands.
How Does the Go-Go Scooter Stack up Against the Competition?
To test how it measures up against the competition, we’re comparing the Go-Go Traveller Elite Plus 4-wheel Pride Mobility Scooter to the Golden Technologies Buzzaround XL 4 Wheel Power Scooter, the Drive Medical Scout Compact Travel 4-Wheel Scooter, and the Shoprider Sunrunner 4.
Golden Technologies Buzzaround XL 4 Wheel Power Scooter
First, let’s talk about portability. We already know that the Go-Go scooter models break down into five pieces, with the heaviest weighing only 35 pounds. The Buzzaround also breaks down — it only breaks down into four pieces, though, and the heaviest of those weighs 43 pounds.
Additionally, we know that you can take the batteries out of the Go-Go scooters, and they only weigh nine pounds. Super-light batteries make it super easy to pop them right off and take them inside for a charge. The Buzzaround does not have this feature, although it does have the battery in a convenient spot, so you don’t have to reach to get it plugged in. So, concerning portability, the Go-Go scooter takes this round.
Price and maneuverability
The Buzzaround is $1,100 to $2,100. So, is there any area in which the Buzzaround outperforms the Go-Go Scooter?
Now, every scooter comes with a range which is the number of miles it will go on one charge. Keep in mind, though, that this is variable depending on a few things. If you are driving in rough terrain, for example, or you have a lot of weight on the scooter, or you are traveling on a lot of hills, the battery will wear down more quickly. However, each battery does come with a range. So what’s the range for our two scooters here? The Buzzaround gets eight miles compared to the Go-Go Scooter which gets a whopping 14. So, yet again, the Go-Go scooter outperforms the Buzzaround.
Battery life and turning radius
The seat on the Buzzaround comes in widths of either 18 or 20 inches. Compare that to the Go-Go at 17, and the Buzzaround has a little more room. Both scooters have adjustable seats, as is the case with all the scooters we are talking about today.
Note, however, that even though the Buzzaround has a larger seat, its maximum weight capacity is 300 pounds. For the Go-Go, the maximum allowable weight is 325 pounds — so even though you don’t have an extra-roomy seat, you can certainly carry a little more weight on the Go-Go Scooter.
Finally, we will talk about the turning radius, as we know that’s important for getting around in tight spaces. These two scooters are almost neck-and-neck in this department. The Buzzaround has a 47-inch turning radius, compared to the Go-Go at 46 inches, and you can see it’s close.
In the end, though, the Buzzaround isn’t all that appealing stacked up against the Go-Go Traveller Elite. The Buzzaround’s only appeal over the Go-Go is the slightly larger seat. Both of these units come with a ground clearance of three inches (which is great for nearly all types of terrain) and a headlight as well as safety lights on the back.
Drive Medical Spitfire Scout 4 Wheel Travel Power Scooter
The best thing about the Scout 4 is its incredibly low price point when compared to the other scooters on the list.
Like the Go-Go scooter models, the Scout 4 also breaks down for easy transport. The Scout 4’s heaviest piece is lighter than the Buzzaround’s and comes in at 39 pounds, but it is still heavier than the Go-Go Scooter — if only by a little bit. So, how does the rest of it compare? The Scout 4 does not have removable batteries like the Go-Go.
Concerning the battery, we found several complaints on Amazon. The reviews said that the charging port is incredibly difficult to access. One customer said that without the use of a very bright LED flashlight, she couldn’t even see to plug the Scout 4 scooter in. So, if this will be an issue for you and you don’t have help, it’s important to keep this in mind.
Price and maneuverability
We already mentioned that the Scout 4 is less expensive than the Go-Go Traveller Elite. Right now, this particular Go-Go Scooter is $800 to $1,500. Compare that to the Scout for $550 to $750, and you can see why people might want to go with the Scout. A lot of reviewers are very content with the Scout, but many were not. What did they say?
There are a lot of reviews that say the battery life is not as long as the company said. Many customers say the battery on the Scout 4 wears down after only a few hours. Now, you can order a larger battery for your scooter to make up for this. However, you could just spend a little more on one of Pride Mobility’s quality Go-Go scooter models and not worry about it. The advertised battery life on the Sunrunner is only nine miles.
Turning radius and more
Like the Buzzaround, the weight limit on the Scout 4 is 300 pounds. The seat on the Scout 4 can’t hold as much as the Go-Go scooter either since it’s only 16.5 inches compared to Go-Go at 17 inches. Add to that that the turning radius is almost 54 inches, and in nearly every area the Go-Go Traveller Elite far outperforms the Scout 4 — including ground clearance, as the Scout has only 2.5 inches, and on the Go-Go it’s three.
As we said, though, if funds are an issue and you can work around these issues we just talked about, the Scout 4 isn’t a bad scooter — it’s just not as good or reliable as the Go-Go scooter model we compared it to.
Shoprider Sunrunner 4 Wheel Scooter
Finally, we are going to compare the Go-Go Traveller Elite Scooter to the Shoprider Sunrunner 4 wheel scooter. The Sunrunner is highly rated and extremely popular.
First, the area where the Sunrunner is a little better than the other three is the incline it is capable of climbing. On the other three scooters, the maximum recommended incline is six degrees. WIth a Sunrunner, that capability is extended to eight degrees. If you plan on cruising a lot of hilly areas, that’s something to keep in mind. Now that you know that, how does the rest of it stack up?
Concerning portability, the Sunrunner does not break down for easy transport. On the Sunrunner, all you can do is fold down the seat — which means you will need a large vehicle and help if you need to transport your scooter.
Price and Maneuverability
The Sunrunner is at the high end of the price scale. It’s even more expensive than the Go-Go and the Buzzaround. If you want one of these scooters, you will need to budget $1,200 to $2,500.
Concerning maneuvering around those corners, the Sunrunner isn’t so great for that, either. The turning radius on the Sunrunner is 50 inches, compared to the Go-Go at 46. The Sunrunner does have another point over the Go-Go scooter in the battery department, though. The Go-Go gets 14 miles on a charge, and the Sunrunner gets 26.
Like the other two comparison models, the Sunrunner can hold up to 300 pounds. So, in this area, the Go-Go scooter wins the day. In the end, the Sunrunner is an excellent scooter at a higher price point. If you think you need to get up those steeper hills or that you need the extra life on the battery, this one is for you.
